How to choose a Web Host or Hosting Plan
All too often website owners and webmasters cut corners when it comes to web hosting. While going with the cheapest hosting you can find sounds good and costs less, don’t forget about the old saying "you get what you pay for”.
PDshop (our Asp.Net online store & shopping cart) is a powerful web application; the Asp.Net scripts and functionality behind it is very similar to what you would find on a major retailer’s web server. They don’t cut corners with hosting, so if you want to be successful you shouldn’t either. Since the web server is the backbone and lifeline to your website, it is important to choose a host that can really meet your needs, in addition to PDshop's.
When choosing a web host first make sure they offer a good “Windows” plan, PDshop must be installed on a Windows web server (the IIS / Internet Information Server web service). Next, choose the host based on it’s reputation and level of support, not the monthly price. While low-cost/budget hosts can be used, they are not always the best choice. If you would like the PageDown Technology support staff to recommend a host for you, just click 'Contact Us' above.
SHARED vs. DEDICATED hosting:
Our philosophy is simple, if you have outgrown Microsoft Access, than you have probably also outgrown "shared" or the low cost/budget hosting plans. A dedicated server is really the right way to go, or if it's not in the budget, go with a host that can really offer you more personalized technical services.
