How to disable SSL 3.0, SSLv3, following the newly discovered poodle vulnerability
Following the discovery of the poodle vulnerability in the SSL 3.0 protocol, you should immediately disable SSL in your web browser. If you have windows and use Internet Explorer, IE, this is very easy. Follow the steps below:
1. Open "Internet Options"
2. Click on the "Advanced" tab
3. Scroll down until you see SSL 2.0 and SSL 3.0.
4. Uncheck "use SSL 2.0" and "use SSL 3.0"
5. Make sure that TLS 1.0, TLS 1.1, and TLS 1.2 are checked
6. Click Save.
7. Close Internet Explorer (IE) and Restart so that the changes take effect.
If you are using a different browser, such as Google Chrome, Firefox, or Safari, it is not so easy to disable. See the link below to the Poodle help page (if the steps are too complex, you may have to wait until your browser software is updated)
SERVER ADMINISTATORS: If you are a system admin, web master, or web server admin, you must disable the SSL protocol on all of your servers. This is NOT done the same way as noted above. CONTACT US for assistance with turning off this protocol. Use Contact Us link above.
PDSHOP USERS: We recommend upgrading if you are using an older version of PDshop, to ensure no connection issues once SSL 3.0 is disabled by the various vendors and APIs that PDshop interacts with.
