PDshop Passwords not recognized (after changing the encryption code, or after editing users through MSaccess).
The passwords that are saved in the database are encrypted by PDshop using an encryption function. You should not edit the passwords (or credit card numbers) directly using Microsoft Access.
You cannot change the encryption password after any data or passwords have been entered into the database. The encryption password should only be changed at the time of installation.
If you change the encryption phrase (which is found in the setup.asp or web.config file) after data is written to the database, some data will no longer be recognized. Also, if edit a password directly using MSAccess you will corrupt the password and the password will no longer be recognized.
If you becomes locked out of PDadmin you can do one of the following:
1. You can edit the line of code in the setup.asp file that refers to "cryptpass", using "Notepad" enter the correct value. This will only work if the problem is related to the encryption code.
2. Using Microsoft Access, you can delete all users in the "Security" table. You will be able to log in again (as if it was the first time). To accomplish this, you would need to download a copy of your database to your local computer. Using MSAccess, open the database and delete all users in the "security" table.
NOTE: If you change the encryption password after credit card data or customer passwords have been saved, this data will no longer be accessible, and customer passwords will no longer work. There is no fix for this.
