Unexpected error from external database driver (1) when attempting to Import Data
Sample Error
You may see a message that says "Unexpected error from external database driver (1)" from the Microsoft JET Database Engine
Solution or Workaround
If you receive this error while trying to import data from Excel in the PDshop Admin, your server was likely recently updated and Microsoft Security Update KB4041681 was installed. This Update from Microsoft was distributed via Windows Updates so it may have automatically been installed.
A bug in this security update "breaks" some aspects of the JET OLEDB driver, which is used by non-Microsoft applications such as ours to open MS Excel files. PDshop relies on this driver, as it is widely available on most Windows Servers provided by the popular web hosts. At this time, we are waiting for a fix from Microsoft. There is no recommended workaround at this time, other than to un-install this MS Update. We recommend that you please contact Technical Support for assistance.
UPDATE: On November 14, 2017 Microsoft released KB4048957 (Monthly Rollup) which resolves the issue. Contact Us for further assistance.
